Uttoran Sen Dot Com Completes One Month - The Journey So Far

For the last one year, I planned to start a personal blog but got busy with other work that never gave me the time to start one. Finally last month I started this blog and today it completed its first month of existence. So here’s a small insight on how things have gone so far.

Alexa Rank For Uttoran Sen Dot Com

The Alexa rank has never been a quality metric for measuring a site’s value, though it’s a popular measure and widely accepted. When I started this blog, the Alexa rank was over a million, but in the very first update the rank went down to 700k. In the next few updates it dropped to 690k and 608k, which was pretty much expected. Then I posted a lot of articles, which increased the traffic a bit; also some articles reached the homepages of miscellaneous small social bookmarking sites, which in turn increased my traffic further. All this dropped the Alexa rank to 550k and by the time I was writing this post the rank was 424k. The most recent update further pulled it down to 383k. Am expecting the ranks to go down to 100k in December 2008, which is slightly over 2 months time. So far none of my sites have dropped below 100k Alexa ranks, so it will be exciting when it dose.

Browser Details of Visitors

Google Chrome is the latest browser to hit the Internet, and am finding quite a few visitors of this blog are using Google Chrome. Here are some details of browsers that our visitors are using, some of those browsers I have not even heard, will try to use a few of those browsers in the future. So far personally I have only used IE, Mozila Firefox and opera. Firefox dose pretty much everything that is required, so I don’t find the need to try out any other browser, but am thinking to atleast test chrome once, just for the heck of it. Also Safari and Opera are the other browser that our visitors are using. I would like to know if the site is opening properly in other browsers or not, so if you are using any browser platform and the site is not opening properly then please let us know.

Visitor Map

We have visitors from all over the word. Visitors from different parts of the world are reading out blog, leaving comments and making this blog a community spot. Am thankful to all our readers, here are some details of the locations of our visitors. Most visitors of this blog come from USA. Am from India so I write some India targeted articles from time to time, and that’s why the next country is India, followed by UK, Canada etc. So far in the first month we have reached an audience of 75 countries, isn’t that great!

Visitor Details Showing Total Visitors

In the first 30 days of this blog’s existence, we have received a total of 1550 visitors, in which 37% of them came from search engines. Though the biggest part of traffic is referral traffic that comes from a lot of sources, which are mainly social bookmarking sites. Also some people subscribe in the blog, or reach us directly, so we do have a small part of direct traffic. I have so far published about 60 articles in the first month, and will publish another 60+ articles in the next month too. Am hoping to reach 100 visitors a day traffic till the end of the next month.

Visitor OS Details

Its great to know that people are accessing this blog from iPhone too. And the other operating system named, “Danger Hiptop” I have never heard about. I use windows, and most of our visitors use this OS only. Mac and Linux are the next to most popular OS as per our visitor stats.

Screen Resolution Details

I did not expected that people uses so many different types of screen resolution. Still the popular choice based on my stats is 1024*778 which is the same resolution that am using. The 1280 * 1024 would be the resolution that I will be expecting in my next monitor. Some people also has resolutions of 1900 etc. On my 17” CRT monitor, I can’t even imagine something like that.
